Professionally filmed video footage of METALLICA performing the track “Fuel” on May 19 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts could be seen beneath.
The Band was joined in Foxborough, as they are going to be on many of the rest of the North American leg of the “WorldWired” tour, by VOLBEAT and AVENGED SEVENFOLD.
The North American run will hit stadiums in 20 extra cities earlier than ending in mid-August. METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich informed Rolling Stone that the band was genuinely shocked to learn they could still play stadiums, saying, “It was like, ‘Holy fuck, individuals really still care about this band in ways that you stopped taking with no consideration literally many years in the past. It was very inspiring and type of eye-opening.”
He added: “Full stadium runs can generally be a little intimidating. There’s all this stuff to worry about like, ‘You should actually attempt to play maybe only on the weekend,’ and, ‘Where do you play on Tuesday?’ and some of those practicalities can get a little bewildering. We just threw caution to the wind. Doing a stadium run seemed like the perfect thing on the back of how well this record has been received and all the good will that is out there in METALLICA‘s world right now.”
The subsequent stop on the tour is St. Louis, Missouri on June 4.
