Slipknot Issue Statement Following Cancellation Of Their Australian Tour With Metallica

Slipknot have hit social media to issue a public statement following yesterday’s shock news that Metallica had cancelled their October Australian tour dates with the band due to frontman James Hetfield entering rehab for alcohol addiction.

In a brief statement, the Masked Ones expressed love for both James and Metallica, and indicated that they’re “working as quickly as possible to determine next steps” regarding the cancelled Aussie tour.

It also sounds like they only heard the news around the same time we all did!

Their statement reads, in full:

“To our Australian and New Zealand fans and family,

We only recently heard the news about the tour being postponed, and we are working as quickly as possible to determine next steps. We will let everyone know as soon as we are able.

Of course, our thoughts are with James and Metallica. We wish them nothing but the best.

We hope to see you all very soon.

-Slipknot”

Hopefully this means a standalone Australian tour could be in the works?

Maybe someone should get @DownloadFestAU onto this, eh?

We’ll bring you any more news on this as soon as it develops. In the meantime, Metallica have promised all ticketholders to the cancelled tour dates will cop a full refund and you can find out more info on how to get your cash back right here.
