Here is Dennis’s note to Metallica:
Hello Lars, James Kirk and Robert i do not know where to start, first of all i wanna say thnx to you guys My name is Dennis, and I am from Belgium I know my English sucks but I bet it is better than your dutch.
I am a fan (of course) not that kind of fan that owned all of your products and stuff, but a fan that really enjoy you guys preforming. Every time you hit Belgium I be there, not in the front row, but more in the back where I can lay down with a cold beer and just enjoy the show I have listening to you sins the first time I hear fade to black (still one of my favorite) I always said if I ever get the chance to meet the guys I go to James and ask him 1 thing….. his guitar now I am 41 years old and till now I never have the opportunity to meet. But hey it is all about the music I am building guitars for 5 years now, and from the first day I have one goal. Design, and build a Metal Body Guitar that screams METAL, for Metallica I start building guitars because I could not afford one so I start saving money to build my own. And I could not stop making them, because I have so many ideas….. I saved 3,5 years to build the Metallica guitar, what can I say, I have a family with 3 kids so….
I will try to explain the build the model:
The Model is based on a explorer, the snakebite and the ibanez destroyer the lower fin was to thin so I made it bigger :slight_smile: I was thinking a lot on the design because for me it really fits Metallica I call it the X-Fusion because it is a fusion between 3 guitars
The finish/color:
I choose for a sort of relic finish, red black and metal the red part is for all hard work you guys do, and the black part is for the dark periods the Metal part screams PLAY METAL WITH METAL the middle part is a aluminum engraved part that includes all albums that everybody has to know also the band members name and start date, and yeah I don’t forgot CLIFF, I think he is a big part of Metallica this way we can honor him always, I dit not put on jason ore dave because otherwise I have to put on start-and stop date, I hope you guys don’t mint :slight_smile: the logo cut, is for me the old school Metallica logo (angry man) when I see that logo Metallica pops up, everybody knows it I relic the body because you guys rock our world for more than 30 years, the parts that are filled with steel mesh are exploded parts, you guys just rock, and when you hit the stage it is like a explosion to me
why I do it?
I was checking some pickups when I start, and I was on the EMG website and I see James and there was one line that still keeps popping in my head, it does not matters how a guitar looks like, but it is how it sounds like, with a good sounding guitar, you can make a great song wel…. ok now I silently hope that one of your songs is inspired by this build by his look ( a challenge) if it is possible I ask one thing, a picture, if this is not possible I understand I do not ask you to preform with it (well maybe when you come to Belgium again) if you can use it, please do, you have no idea how pride I am on this one but I understand if that is not possible doing the endorsement you have maybe… just maybe we meet one day (you never know) I wish you guys all the best, and many years of rock n roll
